Background: The program started out as a result of the drug pandemic that infiltrated our communities. We could not sit back and witness the destruction of our young people.
Vision: Our vision is to create a safe environment for addicts to confront the root cause of their addictions and to empower them to become constructive and productive citizens.
Mission: Our mission is to present workable principles and programs that will alter all areas of the individuals live. This holistic approach covers the body, soul and spirit of man.
History and Background Hope Again Recovery Circle started about 1 year and 5 months ago during May 2007. It used to be a place where young and old men from our communities in Mitchell’s Plain and elsewhere met with Pastor Alfonso and his assistants once a week on a Saturday morning. Because of a real need in the community for help to overcome drug abuse and to deal with problems such domestic violence, alcohol abuse, gangsterism, etc… the Recovery Circle and support groups has now become a Recovery Home for men and even women. The addicts on the programme are mostly from disadvantaged communities and unable to pay for their treatment.
Six Month Commitment Counseling sessions in which the recovering addict is not placed under unrealistic pressure but given enough time to gain an understanding into the client’s situation held daily. Those wanting to overcome drug addiction, make a commitment of six months during which time they live at the home. They receive three meals per day, help and support towards their recovery. Programmes like conflict resolution and life skill management are taught. The treatment programme focuses on deliverance and healing of past and present hurts. Hope Again Recovery Home is a place where the individual’s come face to face with themselves. Life skills are also taught to prepare them for challenging situations that they find themselves in.
Body, Mind and Spirit The programme’s ultimate goal is for the healing of the body, mind and spirit as this is a prerequisite for an individual to be able to live a constructive life and make the right choices. Hope Again Recovery Home strives to ensure that the individual seeking help from drug addiction are given the support, direction and skills to equip them to overcome their setbacks and gain control over their lives – not only to find hope for themselves in the future, but also to give hope to others. In the first 15 months Hope Again Recovery Home has guided over 300 addicts and financially supported them in their basic needs to successfully recovery from drug abuse. However, the need for help in the community is still far greater than the treatment capacity available.
Treatment Costs: Treatment has been free of charge and the home extends its gratitude and special thanks to all sponsors for their support.
